Your Help Goes a Long Way!

Citizens Development Center depends on group and individual volunteers to help us with many different projects from maintaining our garden to throwing a party for our clients.

Classroom Instruction

Description: Teach various topics such as safety, money management, or nutrition to groups of disabled adults.

Availability: Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Time: 3 hours

Group Size: 3 to 20

Supplies: No specific supplies needed.  Visual aids recommended.

 

Job Interviewer

Description: Conduct mock job interviews with clients (adults with disabilities)

Availability: Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Time: 1 to 4 hours

Group Size: 1 to 20

Supplies: No specific supplies needed.

 

Computer Instruction

Description: Teach basic computer skills and/or assist individuals with disabilities with educational computer programs.

Availability: Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Time: 2 -4 hours

Group Size: 1 to 5

Supplies: No specific supplies needed.

 

Work Trainer

Description: Work in work groups and assist adults with disabilities with work tasks (packaging, assembly, labeling).  Help group supervisor with quality control and product movement.

Availability: Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Time: 3 hours

Group Size: 3 to 27

Supplies: None needed

 

Party or Event Host

Description: Plan, host, decorate, provide music and/or provide and serve refreshments for adults with disabilities.  Refreshments can include lunch foods such as hot dogs or pizza or snacks such as chips and cookies.

Availability: Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Time: 3 hours

Group Size: 6 to 30

Supplies: Refreshments and paper goods; Agency may be able to provide if necessary

 

Arts and Crafts

Description: Assist individuals with mental and physical challenges complete art projects.

Availability: Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Time: 3 hours

Group Size: 3 to 20

Supplies: Agency has some arts and craft supplies.  Company may need to provide additional supplies based on selected project.

 

Bingo/Recreational Activities

Description: Play games (bingo, cards) or recreational activities (basketball) with adults with disabilities.

Availability: Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Time: 3 hours

Group Size: 3 to 20

Supplies: Agency has most supplies.  Company may need to provide prizes for bingo.

Painting Projects

Description: Paint interior or exterior of building

Availability: Weekdays or Weekends

Time: 2 to 6 hours

Group Size: 3 to 30

Supplies: Prefer volunteers or companies to provide paint and supplies, but agency may be able to provide some of the supplies needed or assist with purchasing supplies without tax added.

Maintain Ability Garden

Description: Help maintain ability garden by watering, weeding, and planting.

Availability: Weekdays or weekends by appointment

Time: Varies depending on the scope of the project

Group Size: 1 to 30

Supplies: Shovels, gardening tools and gardening gloves are available in limited quantities.  Large groups should bring their own.
